More exclamations coming from the students:
Jeanne F. writes:

What wonderful purple heather we saw along the roads!

What a dreadful monster we saw in a pond near Loch Ness!

What beautiful kilts Scottish men wore!

What flashy colours the shop windows in High Street in Edinburgh had!

Monique K. writes:

What a romantic and strange atmosphere at Glenfinnan, between Fort William and Mallaig, near Harry Potter's viaduct and the monument to the soldiers who died for the Jacobite cause. The loch was surrounded with a light mist like a heavenly scarf.

What a magnificent site near Stonehaven at Dunnottar Castle, the castle of Macbeth, monumental ruins with its black cliffs eroded by the North sea.

And Michèle T-C writes:

What a sweet week in Scotland we had!!!

What good weather for autumn!

4 -- One more day

This is the day for final preparations. Is everyone ready?

Good weather to welcome us: keep your fingers crossed.

As I promised, while you are sitting and waiting for 4 a.m. to arrive, you can already listen to the Scottish accent and learn about Robert Burns, the famous Scottish poet. My students learned about him in classes at the beginning of the New Year. Do you remember why?

Go to
http://www.scotland.org/burns-night/ Click on Burns Interactive. It's really interesting.
Perhaps you can't understand everything, but try to listen for individual words and the general idea. The same invitation goes to the students who are not going to Scotland. Click and listen.

And remember, you can listen MANY times, all night long, if the travellers decide not to go to bed this evening!

all night long = toute la nuit

2-- Scottish lunch

What a nice lunch we had together.
Forfar bridies with salad -- salmon with oats and neeps -- oatcakes and cheddar cheese -- cranachan for dessert.

It was an opportunity to get to know each other better before we leave. And the weather in Grenoble on September 4th was very Scottish too : a little rain in the morning, cloudy skies and then sunshine. Joan, our Scottish guest, told us that in Scotland you can experience the four seasons in one day!

A lad, a lass, a loch, to blush, to cuddle, a wee kiss Why did we learn this vocabulary?
"I'll give you a penny for your thoughts." Why did we learn this expression?

Now it's time for everyone to start seriously thinking about what we are going to put in our suitcases.
4 more days before we leave.

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Uiad in Scotland blog.

We've taken you to London with our Uiad in London blog (April 2009) and now another group of students is going to Scotland to discover this beautiful country and to practice their English. We would like to share our week in Scotland with everyone. We are leaving on Wednesday September 9th, very early in the morning!

But before we leave, we're having lunch together in Grenoble on Friday. Something special. Return to this blog soon to read about our lunch.
